Shropshire’s diverse digital community gathered on October 2nd for an enlightening event hosted by Pete White, Director of Information Solutions and The Web Orchard. The event, ShropGeek – AI Takeover, featured a lineup of AI experts who shared their insights into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence.
From Microsoft’s CoPilot journey to the automation of art and creativity, the speakers provided a comprehensive overview of AI’s current applications and future possibilities. Paul McGillivray, Co-Founder of Remote, kicked off the event providing a broad perspective on the AI landscape. Discussing the industry trends, the aspirational elements of AI, and the exciting opportunities it presents.
Hammad Kamran, Lead Data Scientist at Kagool, explored real-world use cases of AI and generative AI. He showcased how Kagool has successfully implemented AI solutions to improve efficiency in various industries, including waste management, retail, and government services.
Erik Nodland, CTO of Shoothill Ltd, illustrated how AI has progressed beyond chatbots. He highlighted AI’s potential to automate art, creativity, and processes, sharing examples of its use for advanced applications.
David Bishop, a Digital Transformation Consultant at CTI Digital, delved into the use of AI to enhance customer experience. Emphasising the importance of understanding where AI can be most impactful and where it’s crucial to avoid its use, the presentation provided actionable tips for improving digital customer journeys.
Andrew Boxall from Microsoft closed the event by discussing a range of experiences by sectors with CoPilot, a powerful AI tool that is revolutionising productivity. He shared how wider training and opportunities are increasingly available to license holders to achieve more through personal development and for their organisation.
Pete White, the event’s host, has been instrumental in supporting the growth of the ShropGeek community.
